First class return for Kiss!
Most, Czech Republic, August 29th 2023 - Norbert Kiss returned to action after the summer break clearly refreshed and raring to go.
Norbert Kiss returned to action after the summer break clearly refreshed and raring to go. Having been unbeatable before the break, the Hungarian defending champion didn't miss a beat in re-establishing his supremacy when the 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship resumed at round five, held on the Most circuit in the Czech Republic. Driving the Hungarian team Revesz Racing’s famous red Man truck, Kiss somewhat inevitably claimed both pole positions but also prevailed in races 1, 3 and 4 to collect his eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth wins of the season. Even the rain on Sunday could not slow his relentless drive forwards, and it is now difficult to see anyone preventing him from deservedly retaining his title with three meetings of the season to go. Meanwhile, race 2 was won by Adam Lacko.
Realistically, the only uncertainty now concerns who will finish as runner-up between Jochen Hahn, Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albecete. With thirty-three, thirty and thirty-one points to their names coming into this round, the three drivers more or less cancelled each other out this weekend and are therefore set to continue their three-way tussle for second place at the next round in Zolder (9-10 September), Belgium. The French team Lion Truck Racing and its driver Jonathan André, who missed the Most round, will return to competitive action as part of the FFSA French Truck Racing Championship at Charade on 2-3 September.
Championship update
The 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship standings are dominated by the Hungarian Norbert Kiss, who is way ahead of the rest. He increased his lead even further this weekend and now lies some seventy-eight points clear with just three meetings left this season. His is trailed by Jochen Hahn, who is fourteen points ahead of Sascha Lenz, whilst Antonio Albacete is another ten points back.
